Welcome to the Chester & North Wales Section

This Section was formed in 1992 and is affiliated to the Wales Branch of the IStructE. The purpose of the Section is to provide members from North Wales, Chester and Wirral areas with meeting at local venues. The Section operates in conjunction with both the Wales and Lancashire and Cheshire Branches, whose meetings are generally too great an travel distance from N Wales/Chester/Wirral area.

Meetings are arranged monthly during the autumn, winter and spring and cover a diverse range of subjects of interest to the Structural Engineer.

We aim to cover during a session the following areas of interest:

• Technical papers
• Codes of Practise
• Materials
• Contracts
• Health and Safety
• Notable local and National projects
• Site visits

The section cooperatives with other local Institutions from the construction industry. We also hold joint meetings with the Institution of Civil Engineers.

We are always looking for new topics and speakers for evening meetings. We welcome suggestions from our local members and where possible will endeavour to include them within our next sessions.
