About us:

The IStructE China Group was formally conceived in 2002. To better represent IStructE members and their interests in the major cities of China, three sub-groups were developed and formalised. These sub-groups are based in Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen.

The aim of Group is to promote structural engineering practice in China by:
¡¤ organising regular professional technical meetings and seminars
¡¤ updating structural engineers with diverse modern design methods and up-to-date international Design Standards
¡¤ engaging in research and development with Universities and major Design Institutes
¡¤ cooperating and working with relevant organisations throughout the world to the benefit of the profession in general and its members in particular

Currently, there are 16 Fellows (FIStructE) and 114 Members (MIStructE) of the Institution. Most members gained Corporate Membership of the Institution of Structural Engineers by undertaking a Supplementary Test set by NABER(S) ¨C an acronym for the National Administration Board of Engineers Regulation (Structural) ¨C signed under the IStructE-NABER(S) Accord. In order to sit the Supplementary Test, a candidate must be registered as a Class 1 Structural Engineer in China.
