Young Persons Group

Purpose of a Young Persons Group

The Young Persons Group primary objective is to represent the views of young members of the profession within the Branch and to develop initiatives that will generate the interest of Young Members in the Institution. It is also intended that the group involves young members in the community who aspire to be Civil and Structural Engineers and are therefore not members of the institution.

The Group does not aim to organise events that will substitute that of the Branch, but to supplement normal Branch functions with programmes particularly designed for young members. The Group is responsible for undertaking initiatives independently without the direct involvement of the Branch but accountable to it. Young Members and aspiring members are encouraged to express their views and ideas on all matters of Branch interest.

It is to be recognised that participation of Young Members in all Branch activities is essential to the successful operation of the Branch. In this regard, Young Members are encouraged to participate in all phases of Branch activities. Young Members will recognise that many of the activities planned will further their own professional competence. Activities to be organised by the Group will attempt to meet the technical, social, political and professional needs of the Young Engineer.
