2008 Winners Announced!


The winning and commended projects of the 2008 Structural Awards were announced at the Structural Awards gala dinner on Friday 14 November.

This year, over 80 projects from around the world were nominated across 12 different categories, 19 of which were awarded on the night.

The broad range of categories are designed to reflect the industry's diversity and specialisation. This year's category sponsors were Autodesk, Corus, The Concrete Centre and Griffiths & Armour; the Awards are supported by IHS, Peikko and Warners Midlands PLC.

The Awards' highest accolade is the Supreme Award for Structural Engineering Excellence; this year Arup was awarded the Supreme Award for their project, Heathrow Terminal 5.

The Award for Small Projects is awarded to a worthy project with a construction cost of under £1 million. Entries are considered on merit by the Structural Awards judging panel from those eligible projects entered against the principal 11 categories.
