The Educational Trust

About us

The Institution of Structural Engineers' Educational Trust was established in 1991 with the main objective of promoting excellence in structural engineering. It is primarily aimed at encouraging young people to join the profession of structural engineering by:

• Awarding educational scholarships and travel grants.
• Arranging competitions, awarding medals and prizes for excellence.

With the financial support of members of the Institution, and other individuals and firms, the trust has successfully sponsored a number of educational initiatives.

The trust is a company limited by guarantee and a registered charity, operating independently of the Institution of Structural Engineers although retaining strong ties. The business of the trust is managed by a committee of directors who may exercise all the powers of the Company.

If members would like to contribute to the Educational Trust this can either be by a one-of donation made out to the 'Institution of Structural Engineers Educational Trust' or - if you pay UK income tax - by a gift aid donation. A form is available from the PA of the Educational Trust, Sonia Waigo.
