IStructE Ltd is a trading company wholly owned subsidiary of the Institution, which undertakes activities outside the scope of the Institution in its capacity as a charity and learned society.
These activities currently include advertising in the journal, obtaining sponsorship for major events, and running the findanengineer.com database.
All of the company’s profits are gift aided to the Institution.
Structural Engineers Registration Ltd
Structural Engineers Registration Ltd (SER Ltd) is a trading subsidiary of The Institution of Structural Engineers formed with the support of The Institution of Civil Engineers, to provide and manage registration schemes for the certification of design of building structures.
SCOSS
SCOSS - the Standing Committee on Structural Safety - is an independent body established by the Institution of Civil Engineers and the Institution of Structural Engineers and others in 1976 to maintain a continuing review of building and civil engineering matters affecting the safety of structures.
Benevolent Fund
For over 70 years, the Benevolent Fund has been helping Institution members and their dependants encountering financial difficulties as a result of circumstances such as unemployment; illness, accident or disability; family problems; difficulties; during retirement; and bereavement.
Educational Trust
The Institution of Structural Engineers' Educational Trust was established in 1991 with the main objective of promoting excellence in structural engineering.
It is aimed primarily at encouraging young people to enter the profession, with its principal activities falling broadly into three categories:
- The award of educational scholarships and travel grants
- The arrangement of competitions and award of medals and prizes
- The production of teaching materials for schools
