The Young Structural Engineer of the Year 2010 award will be given to a young structural engineer who has demonstrated outstanding performance and who shows exceptional promise for the future.

The winner will receive £1,500 and a certificate of commendation; the runner-up will receive £500 and a certificate.

How to enter
The competition is open to structural engineers who have not reached their 28th birthday by 1 April 2010.

Candidates are required to demonstrate creativity and originality in structural engineering, and entries should include the following:

A report of not more than 2,000 words on a structural engineering project in which the candidate has had a significant input. It should describe the project, the individual’s involvement, and provide extracts from calculations

- A nomination letter from the candidate’s employer of between 500 and 1,000 words
- The candidate’s brief CV
