Chair of the Branch:
Susan Giahi-Broadbent MSc, CEng, FIStructE, MICE (Licence), MIHT
Susan is currently engaged with Atkins as Discipline Head of the Structural Engineering
Team on the BNS Gateway Project.
Prior to this, she specialised in a variety of Civil, Structural, Rail and Highway Engineering
works for both small and large projects in the UK and Overseas. Her experience has covered
the planning, design, construction and maintenance of works with a focus on the
management of designs for new works and the rehabilitation of existing constructions
forming the built environment. She has a supporting expertise in the running of Quality
Assurance Systems in the construction sector required for the control and monitoring of
projects both in the UK and Overseas. Her experience has included tender preparations for
new works; budget preparation and control; project monitoring, and liaison on structural
issues with Clients.
Susan has been a member of the Midland Counties Branch committee since 2007. She was
elected an Executive Board Member for 2007 - 2008; a Council Member for 2007 – 2010;
Communications and Strategy Panel Member for 2007 - 2009 and has represented the Branch
at HQ.


The Midland Counties Branch was formed in 1925 and currently has about 900 members living in the West Midlands. Our meetings are mainly held in Birmingham with occasional meetings in Coventry and other locations in the West Midlands.
