The Branch was founded in 1923 and covers the counties of Avon, Somerset, Wiltshire and Gloucestershire (excluding the district of Salisbury). The present membership is 893 comprising 92 Fellows, 374 Members (9 passed as of Aug 2009), 53 Associate Members, 3 Technical Members, 140 Graduates and 231 Students.

The Branch supports the Institution at both national and local level. It organizes a number of technical meetings and social events throughout the year to promote the activities of the Institution and to benefit the local membership.

All are welcome to attend the Meetings and seminars and note that the Tuesday Group for younger members meet regularly. Technical reports and Archived Newsletters are available in PDF format. Note that the Institution has 18 UK & Ireland Branches, 3 Sections and 11 Worldwide Divisions.

Recent News: The Institution has introduced Webinars here which are seminars on the internet to make it easier for members worldwide to access material for CPD purposes, the Institution has recently begun recording the lectures which take place at the London HQ. These unfortunately do not entitle you to free sandwiches and orange juice during the break.
