Use of the logo
External organisations' use of the logo
The Institution logo is available for external organisations to use, subject to prior agreement with the Marketing Department. Each use of the logo must, however, be in accordance with the Institution's guidelines. This is essential in order to maintain a consistent and professional corporate identity.
Institution members' use of the logo
The Institution logo is available for members to use as part of their business activities. This helps to strengthen the corporate identity of the profession and provide a link between an organisation and its professional body.
Each use of the logo must, however, be in accordance with the Institution's guidelines (part 1/part 2) and be the subject of a licence issued by the Institution.
The guidelines require that a substantial part of the work of the organisation must be in, or closely related to, structural engineering, and that at least one of the directors or partners must be a Chartered or an Incorporated Structural Engineer or a Technician Member.
The Institution logo can also be used by members on site signboards. Information and guidance has been made available through the on-site sign board leaflet.
Applications
The Institution makes no charge for processing applications and, on approval, a licence will be issued along with an electronic version of the logo.
If there is subsequently a significant change in the organisation, such as in its activities, legal constitution or name, a fresh application has to be made.
Members who are using the logo should ensure that they have a current licence to do so; otherwise the matter will be referred to the Professional Conduct Committee.
