Gold Medal Address 2008
Mike Glover has been awarded the prestigious IStructE Gold Medal for his outstanding contribution to the design and construction of major multi-disciplinary projects around the world.
The Gold Medal is IStructE's highest individual award and is made for exceptional personal contributions to the advancement of structural engineering. Since 1922, it has only been awarded 40 times. Previous winners of the Gold Medal include Ove Arup (1973), Edmund Happold (1991) and Michel Virlogeux (1996). Mike was presented with the Gold Medal at IStructE's Centenary Annual Dinner, which took place at the Guildhall, London on Friday, 9th May 2008.
Mike will deliver his Gold Medal Address, titled 'Observations of a Projects Engineer', on Wednesday 25th June 2008 at Vinopolis, London. He will talk about his career and his experiences working on an enviable track record of award-winning projects that includes the HSBC headquarters in Hong Kong and the Channel Tunnel Rail Link. Attendance to the lecture only is now free but booking is required - places are limited, so please contact the Events Team (see below) for availability.
Mike is one of the most versatile and experienced engineers at Arup, where he joined as a graduate in 1969. Having trained as a civil and structural engineer with early emphasis on research and development and analysis, he expanded his skills into the design leadership of multidisciplinary projects ranging from tall buildings, energy projects and large transportation and infrastructure projects around the world.
