Maitland Lecture 2004

Professor Robert Winston

The 2004 IStructE Maitland Lecture was presented by Professor Robert Winston. The host of the BBC1 series 'The Human Mind' delivered the lecture 'The Human Embryo: Thoughts on Structural Engineering' to a packed theatre at the Royal Institution of Great Britain in February 2004.

Robert Winston is Professor of Fertility Studies at Imperial College and Director of NHS Research and Development for Hammersmith Hospital NHS Trust. Professor Winston is widely known for his award winning science programmes for the BBC and the Discovery network, including five series of 'Your Life in Their Hands', 'The Human Body', 'Secret Life of Twins' and 'Walking with Cavemen'.
