The brief for the Young Structural Engineers International Design Competition 2005 was to produce a design for a public building in a town of 150,000 people that would endure for a thousand years in its external form. The building was to be subject to a variety of uses and when in use, the building could not make any contribution to global warming and so required alternative power sources to carbon-producing fuel.
Elisabeth Green and Andrew Urquhart were joint winners of the John Barrett Prize for their projects, while Daniel Allport and James Fookes won the Undergraduate Prize with their team project. |
