Awards are presented to exceptional individuals and teams to celebrate accomplishments in the field of structural engineering
The Institution of Structural Engineers issues several awards throughout the year. Awards are judged according to each set of criteria but are generally presented to individuals as recognition for exemplary achievements within the Institution and/or the structural engineering industry.

The Papers Awards Judging Panel has decided that awards should be made as follows:
The Kenneth Severn Award is granted to the best submission from a young engineer in response to a question set by the current President.
Lewis Kent became President of the Institution in 1959. He was an early recipient of this Award which, from 1973, was re-named in his honour.
This annual competition, for penultimate and final year undergraduates and first year postgraduates, awards prizes for the best dissertations on the application of physical models to solve problems associated with the design of structures.
The Pai Lin Li Travel Award provides grants of between £1,000 and £3,000 to members of the Institution who wish to spend four to six weeks outside their own country studying current practice or trends related to the use of any construction material in the field of structural engineering.
The Young Structural Engineer of the Year award is given to young structural engineers who demonstrate outstanding performance and show exceptional promise for the future.
The Service Awards are given for services to the Institution by a Regional Group official or an Institution representative
The Structural Awards are the industry’s most prestigious awards ceremony, celebrating international excellence in structural engineering.
This scheme funds the development of innovative new research areas in structural engineering and facilitates additional aspects of on-going research.
