Model and Full Scale Testing Award
Promoting physical testing as part of the design process to students
This annual competition, for penultimate and final year undergraduates and first year postgraduates, awards prizes for the best dissertations on the application of physical models to solve problems associated with the design of structures.
Entries are usually related to projects undertaken as part of an undergraduate or MSc course of study.
A prize of £300 is awarded to the student submitting the best entry. A plaque or similar memento is also donated to the university department from which it was submitted. Smaller cash sums are awarded to runners-up.
Winners are invited to the Institution to receive their prizes and may be invited to write an article about their project for The Structural Engineer.
