Maitland Lecture 2008
The 2008 Maitland Lecture was given by well known science lecturer and polymer researcher Professor Tony Ryan OBE on Wednesday 20 February 2008.
Titled, 'The impact of NANO technology on the construction industry', the lecture examined the future possibilities that NANO technology could hold for building and construction.
Tony is currently the ICI Professor of Physical Chemistry and director of the Polymer Centre at the University of Sheffield and has conducted a number of high profile science lectures to large audiences.
In 2002, his Royal Institution Christmas Lecture was broadcast to over nine million people and he has since been a contributor to a number of television programmes.
History of the Maitland Lecture
The biennial lecture was established in 1958 to commemorate the Institutions golden jubilee. The lecture is named in recognition of the work of Major Reginald Maitland OBE, who was the Institution's secretary from 1930 until 1961.
