Here is a brief explanation of some of the questions you may have about using The Forum.
How do I view messages?
The forum has a number of topic areas, some of the areas are Members only and some are open to Members and registered Non Members.
In order to enter a Members only forum you must have first have registered your details with 'My Area' (formerly the Members' Quarter). Registered Members will either be prompted to enter the registered Username and Password or if already logged in, let straight through to the forum discussion.
The general forum can be entered and viewed by anyone but only IStructE Members and registered Non Members are able to post messages or reply to Messages.
How do I post a new message?
To post a new message simply decide which discussion board is most suitable for your message (Exams, Technical, General etc) and type the title of your new subject in the New Subject Title box (found at the top of the top of every discussion board).
After entering the title of your message you will be prompted to type your message.
Below the main message box is a check box with the description 'Notify me by email when a message is added', ticking this box means that an email alert will be sent to you every time someone posts a reply to your message.
After typing your message click the 'Preview Message' button, you now get to verify your message before it appears on the site. When happy with your message click the 'Post Message' button.
How do I post a reply?
To reply to a message simply click the 'Post Message' button, you will then be able to type your reply.

After typing your message click the 'Preview Message' button, you now get to verify your message before it appears on the site. When happy with your message click the 'Post Message' button.
Why doesn't my message show up?
Your post most likely did not show up, because your browser did not reload the page, it simply pulled it out of cache. To view a message you have just posted on the board try using your browser's Reload/Refresh command or button to reload the page. Your message should then appear. |
