Preflex Beam
I have to assess a bridge with Preflex Beam construction. Just wonder is there anyone knows what Preflex Beam is and where can I find the related information? Thanks.

RE: Preflex Beam
Preflex beams were made under licence in UK by Boulton and Paul of Norwich back in the 1970's and 80's. They are a Swedish or some other European County original design. B & P went out of business some time ago but if you can find out what happend to their data maybe you can get what you want from that source. A preflex beam was constructed by jacking a pair of beams apart to form a precamber then casting an RC casing around the bottom flange which acts as a shelf for seating precast deck panels.

RE: Preflex Beam
Dear William, Besides Preflex beam, do you know where can I obtain some information, documents or design standard in English about other German prestressed composite beam such as Spanngurttraeger and Kombitraeger. Thanks Regards, Samson

RE: Preflex Beam
I have Boulton & Paul catalogues dated May 1966 and May 1974 (imperial and metric units respectively). Also Technical Memorandum BE 7/73 dated October 1973 (amended February 1974).

Hi All, I realised that this thread is a few years old, but I am also in the situation where I need to assess Preflex beams. Would you be able to send through a copy of the catalouges and Technical Memo? My e-mail address is mark.blackburn@atkinsglobal.com Thanks Mark
