report for mortgage
Can anyone please advise me on the following, I am in the process of buying a victorian maisonette which has signs of movement at the rear of the property, my mortgage provider has picked this up and requested that a structural report is done before lending in case there is subsidence. can I instruct my own engineer or do mortgage companies have their own? also on viewing the property I did not think the movement would be an issue as it looked minor there are cracks through the mortar above the back door but no cracking inside. How would a structural engineer assertain if this is some settlement or subsidence? thanks for any info in advance
