Standard Route
Free student membership is available to students following an accredited/recognised full-time or part-time course of study leading to Technician membership (TIStructE) e.g. National Certificate, Associate-Membership (AMIStructE) e.g. HND or IEng degree or Chartered membership (MIStructE) e.g. BEng (Hons) or MEng.
Applicants holding non-accredited qualifications will be registered as student members whilst their qualifications are being assessed under the Individual Case Procedure and, if necessary, whilst topping-up their qualifications.

There are no entrance or assessment fees for student membership.
Please note that the online application form can, currently, only be used by Students who are studying on accredited/recognized courses or the equivalent that have been accepted by IStructE as meeting the educational standards for a grade(s) of membership.*
You can now apply for student membership online.
If your degree is not accredited you are still entitled to Student membership but will be required to fill out a hard copy of your student application and return to IStructE along with the relevant subscription.

*If you are unsure as to whether your course is accredited by IStructE or recognised under an international agreement, please email the membership department who will be able to inform you of whether your course is accredited on; please include the following details:
- Name of establishment where you are studying
- Country where establishment is based
- Full title of your course
- Start date and expected finish date
Please note that if an application process takes longer than 6 months to complete the application will be rejected and the records deleted. |
