CPD Activities

Attending courses is only one of a number of ways of undertaking CPD. Although much value may be gained from investment in a tailored course based on organisation and business needs, there are other appropriate activities including:

1. In the course of professional activities

  • Work-based learning
  • Work shadowing
  • Preparation and delivery of presentations/lectures
  • Preparation of articles and refereed papers
  • Mentoring young engineers in your work place
2. Specific training activities
  • Post graduate programmes/qualifications
  • NVQ / SVQ.
  • Courses, conferences and seminars - the Institution's programme of courses, conferences and seminars provides one-day and half-day events covering technical, management and law topics

3. Horizon broadening activities

  • Community and public service involvement (e.g. careers talks to schools, involvement in community clubs)
