Guidance on Completing the Annual Return
The process of CPD is a continuous cycle of reviewing, planning, acting and assessing. In order to gain the maximum benefit from CPD activities, members should take time to regularly review their personal career development needs and plan accordingly. Targets should be set and a record kept of all CPD activities undertaken. The Institution has produced a Professional Development Record sheet, which will allow members to record their activities. This is for the members' personal use and need not be submitted to the Institution. However, many members choose to attach their record sheet to their Annual Return.
The Institution is flexible as far as how members wish to submit information on their CPD activities. However, a CV is not, in itself, appropriate. The Annual Return is an account of one year's activities and should highlight professional development beyond an individual's daily work responsibilities.
Please note that the CPD Return has been restructured and members are therefore strongly advised to review the guidance document which gives information and advice on completion of the Return.
Examples of Annual Returns are shown on the website but are for guidance only.
