Fellow

Standard Route

Transfer to Fellow is open to all MIStructE & AIStructE members who feel that they satisfy the relevant criteria. To apply, candidates should submit the following:

  • A 1,000 word report (2-4 pages) outlining the role that you have played in the development of the profession of structural engineering;
  • Evidence of your CPD over the previous 5 years;
  • A completed application form for Fellowship, clearly indicating your career development and five most significant achievements;
  • In anticipation of your success, a brief profile of yourself, plus a photo for publicity in the Journal and on the IStructE website.

Candidates are also encouraged to submit the following:

  • Supporting evidence such as a detailed CV or resume, giving your employment history;
  • An indication of your current position within your organisation. This might take the form of a brief statement or an organisation chart.

The Institution has prepared examples of Fellowship applications which would be likely to satisfy the above requirements.

Upon receipt of an application, the Fellowship Executive will contact the application supporters and the local Branch/Division for counsel. The Branch/Division will then advise whether they wish to conduct an interview (this will be undertaken at the discretion of the Branch/Division based on their familiarity with the candidate and their work). The completed application will be presented to the Application & Professional Review Panel for consideration and a final decision on weather an interview is required.

For those candidates unsure of the strength of their application, it is now possible to submit a preliminary application. A completed Form F, along with the required supplementary documentation should be submitted; however, in the first instance, it is not necessary to acquire the supporter endorsements. This will allow applicants the opportunity to test the water before they attempt to gain the support of colleagues and peers.

For all queries regarding the grade of Fellow or Fellowship applications, please contact Ms Deovonne Ferreira on 020 7201 9131. Applications should be addressed to the Fellowship Executive, 11 Upper Belgrave Street, London SW1X 8BH.
