Welcome to the Western Counties Regional Group page. This group represents members of the Institution of Structural Engineers in the area and should be contacted if you have any queries relating to the Institution or to structural engineering in general.

The Regional Group (formerly branch) was founded in 1923 and covers the counties of Bristol, Somerset, Wiltshire and Gloucestershire (excluding the district of Salisbury). It upholds the Institution’s Vision at a local level and continues a pro-active, modern and forward thinking approach. This has been demonstrated recently by providing the Eurocode technical seminars to prepare engineers for the new codes and our Local Opportunities service.

As well as providing group information and contact details for representatives in this area, these pages also feature relevant news and events specific to the Western Counties region. These events and news articles will be updated in due course so please return to this page regularly to ensure you stay abreast with up-to-date information.

There are a number of technical presentations and social events throughout the year to promote the activities of the Institution and to benefit the local membership. There is no booking and these events are free unless noted. Guests are also welcome. We also encourage members to attend the Institution of Civil Engineer events in this region.
