Welcome to the United Arab Emirates Regional Group page. This group represents members of the Institution of Structural Engineers in the area, and should be contacted if you have any queries relating to the Institution or to structural engineering in general.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) consists of seven emirates, notably: Abu Dhabi (the capital), Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm al-Quwain, Ras al-Khaimah and Fujairah. The UAE is one of the six members of the Gulf Cooperation Council along with Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar and Saudi Arabia. Countries in this region have seen significant growth in the built environment in the past few decades and it is also where structural engineers have made a significant contribution in a diverse range of construction projects.

Regional Groups - explaining the name change

As you may have noticed, the term ‘Regional Groups’ has been cropping up when referring to Branches, Sections and Divisions. We do realise that some of you may be wondering where this term has come from and why the decision has been made to change the terminology used by the Institution, so we thought it best to explain!
