Entering 2012; celebrating structural innovation worldwide
The Structural Awards 2012 are now open for entries.
The deadline for Structural Awards 2012 entries is Thursday 19 April 2012.
The Structural Awards are the world's most prestigious acknowledgement of structural engineering excellence. In the midst of fierce competition, a sustainability drive and technical advance in the industry, winning a Structural Award is the ultimate way to set your project apart in a global profession.
There are eleven categories to enter, and structural engineers from around the globe are invited to submit their projects. A shortlist of projects will be announced in August 2012.
Projects are judged according to the following criteria:
creativity and innovation
Since 1968, the Institution of Structural Engineers has hosted this competition to celebrate and reward the outstanding achievements of structural engineers around the world.
Reflecting the international pool of talent the 2011 event awarded projects in twelve categories from across Europe, Asia, Australasia and the United States of America. Among the winning projects were some of the most stunning examples of engineering excellence of the last decade including: Dublin Airport Terminal Two in Ireland, Khan Shatyr Entertainment Centre in Kazakhstan, Las Arenas Bullring in Spain and the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in the UK. You can view the 2011 winning projects on our Structural Awards page.
To be shortlisted for the awards is a fantastic achievement as well as a brilliant marketing opportunity. Recognition from the Institution can raise the profile of the project and the engineers involved. The awards ceremony is also an excellent networking opportunity for those in the industry.
Martin Powell, Chief Executive of the Institution of Structural Engineers said:
'Every year we invite projects from around the globe to enter the Structural Awards. We aim to find true creative designers and innovators in the industry and reward their contribution to our environment.'
'The awards offer an unparalleled opportunity to celebrate structural engineering achievements and show case the best examples that can educate, inspire and drive innovation in the next generation of structural engineers.'
This year the Structural Awards event will take place on the 2 November 2012 at the Marriott Hotel, Grosvenor Square in London. For more information on the event and how to enter the Structural Awards 2012 please visit: www.structuralawards.org.
