Americas
IStructE has a growing presence in the Americas; this was underlined in late 2003 with the launch of the new IStructE Caribbean Division. The Division draws together the existing IStructE representatives in the Caribbean; in Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago, and Jamaica, offering IStructE members in the region greater structure to their membership, and reinforcing their relationship with the Institution.
In Canada and the USA IStructE continues to make progress. In 2003 IStructE Chief Executive Keith Eaton, and Vice President David Harvey, from Vancouver, attended the Structural Engineering Institute’s 2003 Structures Congress in Seattle in June, while in May 2004 former IStructE President John Roberts delivered the keynote opening address at the 2004 SEI/ASCE Structures Congress in Nashville. In 2003 at the IStructE Annual Conference, then President Bob McKittrick signed an agreement with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia to establish a Joint Structural Division.
