Barbados
The Institution signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Barbados Association of Professional Engineers in March 1995. This is a joint membership agreement based on the Chartered Membership examination. Chartered members of IStructE who are also members of BAPE are entitled to a subscription reduction.

Canada
A Memorandum of Understanding was signed in August 2002 with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia. This permits use of the Chartered Membership examination by APEGBC for the purposes of qualifying candidates as structural sngineers. The secondary purpose of the memorandum is to articulate the intention of both parties to work towards recognition at the full professional level by IStructE of APEGBC Members (PEng) who have qualified for, and successfully completed, the examination.

Trinidad and Tobago

United States
An Agreement of Cooperation with the American Society of Civil Engineers was signed in October 1988 and renewed in 2002. This agreement includes exchange of information and publications, joint events, arrangements for exchange programmes, advice on membership and invitations to members of each organisation to attend technical meetings. The Institution also has a close relationship with the Structural Engineering Institute of the ASCE.
