This section details how the Earthquake Engineering Field Investigation Team (EEFIT) is run, how to get involved and membership fees.
How EEFIT is run
EEFIT is managed by a committee elected by its membership.
Additionally, EEFIT relies on a small number of practising engineers and academics, the financial support of its membership and corporate sponsors and secretarial support from the Institution of Structural Engineers.

How to get involved
Membership of EEFIT will mean that you can make a fundamental difference in understanding the impact of earthquakes.
You can have different levels of involvement as a:

Committee member

Mission team member
-
General member
As a member you may have the opportunity to survey earthquake damage worldwide and you will:

provide event interpretation from an engineering perspective and disseminate findings to the research community, policy makers and reconstruction stakeholders

learn from experienced engineers and support your training as an earthquake engineer
-
alert the engineering community to your findings and emerging patterns

Membership fees
Student membership
Full time students on undergraduate or postgraduate courses related to earthquake engineering are eligible to apply for free student membership.
Please complete a student membership application form and submit it by email.
Part-time students are advised to use the full membership option.
Full membership
Practising engineers and academics can apply for full membership of EEFIT entitling them to be considered for joining a mission team.
The annual subscription is £15 or £10 for members of the Institution or SECED.

Corporate membership
Organisations supporting the aims of EEFIT are invited to become corporate members of EEFIT.
For an annual subscription of £225 + VAT, corporate members are acknowledged on our website and in our publications and they are entitled to recommend a member of staff to join a mission team.
