Rethinking Construction Panel

Chairman: Ian Thirlwall
Secretary: Phil Williams

The Rethinking Construction Panel is responsible for providing guidance for Members on the changes in procurement and management practices being explored by the UK Government and Construction Industry under the banner 'Rethinking Construction'.

The Panel has produced a guide The Rethinking Construction Toolkit to help IStructE members see real benefits in their personal working life as well as their businesses. The Rethinking Construction Toolkit is designed to be a simple and practical guide that will help the individual develop new skills and find out what works best for them.

The toolkit looks at four areas of a structural engineer's professional life: Engineering Best Practice; Delivering Best Service; Working Together; and Developing Your Role. When taken together the four sections will help IStructE members rethink who they are and what they do, for the benefit of their clients, and most importantly themselves.
