Eurocode 8 Manual (Seismic)

This Task Group is preparing a Manual to provide seismic design application rules for the majority of standard low to medium rise steel and concrete buildings falling within the scope of Eurocode 8: Design of structures for earthquake resistance, for all levels of seismicity. The Manual is based on selected sections of two parts of Eurocode 8:

• Part 1: General rules, seismic actions and rules for buildings
• Part 5: Foundations, retaining structures and geotechnical aspects

The manual is being jointly produced with AFPS (Association Françoise de Para Seismic) and will be bilingual (English and French). The two texts will reflect their respective National Annexes.

The Institution is grateful for financial support for this work from SECED (The Society for Earthquake and Civil Engineering Dynamics) who have also provided some of the members of the Institution Task Group.

It is anticipated that the Manual will be published in 2008.
