Building for a Sustainable Future
Chairman: Alan Crossman
Secretary: Ben Cresswell-Riol
The Institution has recently convened a Task Group under the Chairmanship of Alan Crossman to revise and update the 1999 publication Building for a sustainable future: Construction without depletion.
The 1999 edition provides the engineer with, amongst other things, an understanding of the effects of structural engineering decisions on the global warming, acid rain, ozone generation and resource depletion.
The revised guide is likely to improve upon and update this guidance whilst giving the engineer more practical tools with which to act.
It is planned that the revision will be published in 2009.
