Mission Statement
‘Structural engineering is the science and art of designing and making, with economy and elegance, buildings, bridges, frameworks and other similar structures so that they can safely resist the forces to which they may be subjected’
The journal is published twice monthly by the Institution of Structural Engineers and is a main vehicle, with the website, for communication with members worldwide.
It is sent to all members of the Institution and to around 700 subscribers: libraries, universities, research bodies and companies.
Mission Statement
The Journal should:
- promote the learned society role of the Institution by publishing papers aimed at advancing the art and science of structural engineering which is the science and art of designing and making, with economy and elegance, buildings, bridges, frameworks and other similar structures so that they can safely resist the forces to which they may be subjected
- provide structural engineers world-wide with information on practice, design, development and research, education and training associated with the profession of structural engineering and offer a forum for discussion on these matters
- assist the Institution of Structural Engineers in maintaining its internationally recognised high standards
- provide the membership with world-wide information on recent professional and technical activities, headquarters and branch events, and provide a medium for relevant advertising
The Editor is responsible for the content of the journal and its presentation, and works with the Publications Manager in arranging its production and in meeting commercial targets. The Journal is an important element of Institution activity and service to members. There is a policy of continuous improvement.
