Discussion on the Report on Structural Safety

THE Chairman conveyed to the meeting the apologies of Mr. Stanley Vaughan, (President), and Major R. F. Maitland, (Secretary), who were attending another function in the interests of the Institution.

In Part I of this series we have discussed thelateral stability of tall single bay frames. General formulae relating to the sway of members when stability effects are important were given and these will be used again herein. To introduce the problem a particular family of single bay frames was solved analytically and an extension to multi-bay frames was also given. R. E. Bowles and W. Merchant
