Seismic and Dynamic Events PanelĀ

About the Panel

The Seismic and Dynamic Panel consists of a Chair and up to 13 professionally registered volunteer Members of the Institution, or co-opted experts.  The Panel members are all experienced practitioners in seismic and dynamic issues and are able to provide guidance to the Institution's wider membership.

Get involved

Membership of the Seismic and Dynamic Panel is a good way to play an active role in developing guidance to ensure that the Institution's membership have access to relevant information.

Membership of the Panel involves attending up to four meetings a year, and actively contributing to the activities of the Panel.  As a member you will have full access to all Seismic and Dynamic Panel meeting notes and other related documents.

All Institution Members are invited, in the Autumn, to apply to join the Panel for the following session and should provide background information relating to their experience within the subject matter covered by the Panel.

The Panel builds on the work of the Earthquake Engineering Advisory Working Group (EEAWG). Its membership includes experts from regions around the world where seismic issues may be encountered in practice.

The Panel works to augment rather than duplicate existing resources. Operating under the umbrella of the Design and Practice Risk and Structural Safety Committee, the Panel is establishing its initial priorities guided and informed by the following main headings:

  • Developing External relations
  • Seismic design guidance, such as Eurocode 8
  • Resilience building in developing countries
