Tina Cardy, Director of Communications, introduces our latest video about our new International Headquarters building.

I’m delighted to introduce the Institution’s new video, which tells the story of our move from Belgravia to new International Headquarters at 47-58 Bastwick Street, London.

Featuring interviews with 2014 President, Nick Russell, and Chief Executive, Martin Powell, it’s a fascinating look at the motivation, design and philosophy behind the project, and showcases the innovative structural design in the reception and foyer areas - including the glass-fronted entrance and reception space, the horizontal cantilevered staircase in precast concrete and steel, and the exposed, in-situ concrete wall.

The video was first shown during Bastwick Street’s official opening ceremony on 14 May, as part of an event that included a visit from Islington’s Mayor, a speech and plaque unveiling by the Duke of Gloucester, and an exhibition about the illustrious past and exciting future plans of the Institution.

If you’d like to learn more about the Bastwick Street project you can read Martin Powell’s article or Expedition Engineering’s excellent project summary in the December 2014 and June 2015 editions of The Structural Engineer. You can learn more about Bastwick Street by visiting our venue hire website, where you can also book a meeting space and take a virtual tour of the venue.
