Building bridges with the next generation of engineers

Kristina Scheibler-Frood (24) and Joanna Stanyard (23) are structural engineers working at the firm URS. During November they spent time at the St Thomas Moore Language College in London, volunteering at the school’s Monday evening science club - bringing engineering alive for interested children through a bridge building competition run over five weeks. A career shaping the world

Faith Wainwright MBE, FREng, graduated from Oxford University and joined Arup in 1983, when she also joined the Institution. She became a Chartered member in 1987 and a Fellow in 2002.  During her career she has designed a number of remarkable projects and currently is a Director and leader of Arup University. Here she talks about her career in structural engineering, her current role, and her thoughts on women in the profession.

Claudina Vaz is an undergraduate engineer currently enjoying a work placement at WSP. Roma Agrawal is an associate structural engineer at the firm, where she has worked for nine years on numerous projects including bridges, sculptures and the world famous Shard tower. She has won various awards including the Institution’s Young Structural Engineer of the Year competition, and has been a Chartered Member since 2011.
