The IStructE Queensland Committee invites you to join us as we hear Cristian Maluk give a presentation on fire literacy in structural engineering.

During his presentation Cristian will discuss important aspects of structural engineering when considering the effects of fire, the challenges with delivering fire safe structures in the modern built environment, and how structural engineers can gain confidence that they are designing structures to endure the bearing of a real fire in a real building.

Speaker

Cristian Maluk, Senior Lecturer and Director of Research in the School of Civil Engineering at The University of Queensland.
Christian's research and teaching activities gravitate around structural engineering, fire safety engineering, advanced composite material, timber engineering, and varied topics related to material science.

His research outcomes in experimental fire science have received internationally attention, embodied by novel methods used for better understanding the behaviour of materials and structures in the event of a fire.
