Members are invited to attend the 14th Annual General Meeting of the Australia Regional Group followed by talks from the President, Jane Entwistle and Chief Executive, Martin Powell.

Annual General Meeting (18:00 AEDT)

The draft programme for the official proceedings will generally be as follows:

1. Welcome by the Chair

2. Report on activities by the Chair

3. Report of financial status by Treasurer

4.The Honorary Secretary to confirm nominees and if a need for election

5. Election of two Auditors for the 2022 year

6. Any other business

Nominations for ARG Committee positions for the 2023 session are sought. Please see the Nomination Form for more details

Meet the President and Chief Executive (19:00 AEDT)

The President of the Institution, Jane Entwistle, and the Chief Executive, Martin Powell, will join the Australian Regional Group Committee and members for an open discussion.

Jane Entwistle FIStructE, appointed as 2022 President of the Institution of Structural Engineers
Jane is Technical Director for Thomasons in Manchester, specialising in work on existing buildings. She particularly enjoys working on historic structures. 

Jane has been actively involved with the Institution since 2000, serving as Regional Group Chair for Lancashire and Cheshire in 2006/7 and on various committees and panels.

Martin Powell, Chief Executive of the Institution of Structural Engineers
An honours graduate in Earth Sciences, Martin developed his career in the quarrying extractive industry, initially with Australian corporation Pioneer Concrete where he worked in a number of roles over a 10 year period.

On joining Redland, one of the UK’s leading building materials producers, his subsequent roles were involved with business acquisitions, mergers and restructuring until Redland was acquired by Lafarge, a French multinational heavy materials group.

There he joined a world-wide business performance team supporting knowledge transfer and best practice across Lafarge’s international concrete businesses.

After a seven year period as Chief Executive of the UK’s Concrete Society, he joined The Institution of Structural Engineers as Chief Executive in 2009.
