Tanya de Hoog FIStructE, the 103rd and fourth woman President of the Institution of Structural Engineers
Tanya is Aurecon’s Chief Engineering, Eminence and Innovation Officer and leads Aurecon's efforts to empower engineers and designers to consistently deliver technical excellence in a changing industry and attain eminence as leaders in their respective fields. She is passionate about continually advancing Aurecon people’s technical expertise, capabilities and knowledge, to deliver more benefit to clients and fully embed sustainability across all aspects of the organisation.
Tanya has a distinguished background leading award winning and landmark projects around the world, driven by an ethos of technical excellence. Tanya’s leadership has been recognised with numerous industry accolades, culminating in the 2024 honour of becoming the Institution of Structural Engineers President.
Tanya is a structural engineer with nearly 30 years of design experience and brings a wealth of experience from extensive leadership roles in Australia, the UK, and the US. In 2006, Tanya founded Thornton Tomasetti’s London office and until recently was a senior leader in their New York HQ.
Tanya is celebrated for her commitment to innovation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and driving sustainability across the industry. She is passionate about the vital role of engineers in driving climate action, upholding public safety and positively impacting people. Tanya also celebrates projects and collaborations that deliver positive impact to communities by applying engineering expertise, innovative approaches and technology to create new solutions.
Tanya holds a master's degree in interdisciplinary design for the built environment from the University of Cambridge. She also has a Bachelor of Civil Engineering (Hons) from the University of Wollongong and began her career in Perth.
Yasmin Becker, Chief Executive
Yasmin joined the Institution of Structural Engineers in April 2023, having successfully led the Federation of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of the UK since 2017 where she established its strategy and directed domestic and global operations.
With an extensive career spanning the private, public and charity sectors, Yasmin possesses a wealth of experience in developing strategies, growing international partnerships, and delivering complex transformations across multiple organisations.
Yasmin has held senior leadership roles within the health sector as well as holding trustee and non-executive roles and is currently a non-executive director for South Warwickshire University NHS Trust.
