The evening presentation will cover the design and construction of the A533 Expressway Replacement Bridge a National Highways asset carrying the A533 over the M56 near to junction 12 of the M56. An important local structure connecting a number of North West communities to the north and south of the M56 in Cheshire. The design had to embrace a future junction scheme, a design to a budget and overcome several design challenges including a use of digital technologies.
The scheme incorporated off network construction of the A533 replacement deck and placement using self-propelled modular transporters (SPMTs) prior to subsequent demolition of the end of life asset situated in close proximity of a Network Rail asset carrying the West Coast Mainline in Liverpool Lime Street and the new replacement structure.
