Engineers have declared a climate emergency, however, there is little hard data for structural engineers to work with. As designers, clients or constructors we can have a significant influence on the carbon content of our structures.
This talk presents some carbon footprint data for buildings and bridges such that engineers can make informed decisions and develop sustainable, resilient and low carbon structures.
The evening's talk will be presented by David Collings, an engineer with over 40 years’ wide-ranging experience of major infrastructure projects in the UK and overseas.
David Collings is past chairman of Post Tensioning Association and the IABSE group Malaysia. He is assisting with the development of ARCADIS major bridge capability and driving their work on carbon footprints, green bridges and structural sustainability.
