David Wiggins will give an online technical talk on the repair and conservation of masonry bridges.

This presentation will give a conservation engineer’s account of the structural behaviour of masonry bridges subject to serious scour, grappling with form and force in the damaged state from first principles, and the design of compatible repairs.

These principles will be demonstrated using case studies of recent masonry bridge rehabilitation projects in Cumbria.

David is a CARE-accredited structural engineer, part of the conservation and heritage team at Curtins. He has a doctorate in the technical conservation of historic masonry.
