An online technical lecture on the design of storm water attenuation.

This is a talk on storm water attenuation design for an industrial unit (AGB) in the Orion Business Park, Dublin.  Rezoned from greenfield site to industrial usage, describing the management of storm water run-off by using attenuation methods and how this is accommodated in the planning process using the principles of the rational method as laid out in SuDS manual.
 
Ciria C753 used to mirror greenfield run off rates to ensure sustainability and attend to any impact to downstream areas due to new impervious areas. It also describes the legislation involved using SuDS and the concept of QBAR, 30 year storm return attenuation and 100 year storm return attenuation including climate change. Masterplan requirements for the overall industrial estate, followed by calculations for storm drainage and attenuation as well as construction details.
 
This will encompass drainage design of 2 year return serving attenuations of 30 year and 100 year returns. Issues surrounding adoption, maintenance, and avoidance where possible of pumping to outfalls, bespoke attenuation tanks where proprietary systems are not adequate. The hierarchy of SuDS. The limitations of the Rational Method and reference to other run-off evaluation methods available including software.
