The East Anglia Regional Group (EARG) Annual General Meeting followed by talks from the President, Jane Entwistle and Deputy Chief Executive, Darren Byrne.

The evening will commence with the EARG Annual General Meeting followed by a presentation on "Reflections on knowledge, skills and history as a foundation for a climate-positive future” by the President, Jane Entwistle. There will also be an Institution update from the Deputy Chief Executive, Darren Byrne.

The agenda for the evening is as follows:

17:30-18:30
EARG Chair, Tom Morris, will run through the EARG AGM report, which will be followed by presentation of the Regional Group Prize awards, and committee member elections.

18:30-19:00
Buffet will be served.  Guests not attending the AGM can arrive for this.

19:00-19:05
Introduction by EARG Chair, Tom Morris.

19:05-19:45
Presentation from the current IStructE President, Jane Entwistle followed by Q & A session.

19:45-20:15
Presentation by Darren Byrne who will provide an update on HQ.

Speakers

Tom Morris MIStructE
Regional Engineer for the NHBC and Chair of the EARG.

Jane Entwistle FIStructE, appointed as 2022 President of the Institution of Structural Engineers.
Jane is Technical Director for Thomasons in Manchester, specialising in work on existing buildings. She particularly enjoys working on historic structures. 

Jane has been actively involved with the Institution since 2000, serving as Regional Group Chair for Lancashire and Cheshire in 2006/7 and on various committees and panels.

Darren Byrne, IStructE Deputy Chief Executive
Darren joined the Institution in November 1999, following almost five years with the Institution of Civil Engineers.

During his extensive involvement with professional engineering institutions Darren has gained experience in all aspects of the professional membership qualifying process, from academic qualifications through to initial professional development (IPD) and finally the professional review. 

He was appointed Director of Membership and Education in February 2008, and Deputy Chief Executive in January 2017.

During this time Darren has overseen the operation of the Membership and Education Directorate, from careers and accreditation activities to the Professional Review and CPD.

Darren has supported the Chief Executive in the development of membership and education policies and specifically the introduction of new, more accessible and inclusive, routes to membership.

Darren, with his team, continues to develop resources and initiatives to better support members, throughout the world, in developing competence.
