A technical online presentation on Reinforcement Design to Eurocode 2 including the 2020 Update.

A fully revised version of BS 8666 was published at the end of 2020. The revision includes: new shape codes to better align with Eurocode 2, the inclusion of spring back to assist designers when detailing between two concrete faces, and further guidance on bending dimensions and detailing tolerances.

In addition, the fourth edition of the Institution of Structural Engineers' Standard method of detailing structural concrete has recently been published. This includes updates in line with BS 8666:2020, new Model Details and detailing aids and a revised chapter on pre-stressing.

This talk will present details of the methods surrounding RC Detailing, now that the revisions of the Standard Method of Detailing and BS8666 have been released. The presentation will cover the basics of reinforced concrete detailing to Eurocode 2 and then explore the main amendments to these two important documents.

Jenny leads the team of structural engineers at The Concrete Centre who are dedicated to enabling all those involved in the design, use and performance of concrete to realise the full potential of concrete.

Jenny is a chartered civil and structural engineer with more than 30 years’ experience in the construction industry including working for Arup and AECOM designing award winning buildings in both the UK and mainland Europe. She is the UK representative on the CEN task group looking at revisions to the fire part of Eurocode 2 and chairs the BSI Advisory Committee for Engineering Design and Construction.
