Construction Law and Contracts

Aim


This course aims to take people through a full day of working with and thinking about practical issues arising from commercial contracts.

It uses a mix of structured slides, case-law and statutory materials, and specimen extracts from real contracts.

A key element is group working on problems taken from real life situations, geared to construction projects.
 

Learning outcomes


At the end of this course you will be able to:
 
  • Interpret lawyers' jargon
  • Identify which legal issues are critical in a negotiation
  • Recognise how to use the contract during the progress of a project or delivery of the service
 

Intended for


The course is designed to build understanding and confidence in reading, using and applying contracts both for professional services, and for constructing projects; and related forms such as guarantees and warranties
 

Entry criteria


Students would benefit from having at least some years’ experience in practice; suitable for middle and senior managers.

Refreshments available at 9.30am, course starts promptly at 10.00am
