This course aims to introduce participants to the design of concrete structures to Eurocode 2.
The topics covered will be:
- Basics (materials, cover, fire)
- Column design
At the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Describe Eurocode 2
- Design procedures for beams, slabs and columns
- Determine cover for a typical element
- Design elements for Bending, Deflection, Shear, and Axial loads
Paul Gregory is a Structural Engineer for The Concrete Centre. He works within the Centre’s Structural Engineering Department and is involved with providing technical advice and support to designers. Paul has been an IStructE and ICE member for over forty years and has experience in building structures with a number of consulting engineers. In addition to his industrial experience, Paul was a Structural Design Lecturer for seventeen years at the University of Bradford, teaching on undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
The course is relevant to practicing structural engineers who are looking to start designing to Eurocode 2.
A basic understanding of the Eurocode system is assumed, together with a knowledge of the design of concrete.
