|In only four years, IDEA StatiCa has made a huge impact on the way structural engineers analyse and design steel connections, with significant advantages in the productivity and safety of steel structures. It quickly became popular among consulting engineers and steel fabricators across the UK and is now used by some of the biggest names in the industry: ARUP, Mott MacDonald, Ramboll, BuroHappold, William Hare, Caunton Engineering, and many others.
As more consulting firms and steel fabricators are implementing IDEA StatiCa in their design workflows, there is increasing demand to teach UK engineers about this exciting new technology. Leading to the decision to organize the first IDEA StatiCa Users Day in the UK. A full day event that will bring together users from all over the UK, partners and the management team of IDEA StatiCa. There will be opportunities to learn about the latest developments, meet the team, discuss future developments and trends – and of course network!
In addition, IDEA StatiCa will be introducing IDEA StatiCa Detail, an innovative approach for the design and checking of concrete discontinuity regions, a solution that was developed in cooperation with the University of Zurich.
In cooperation with Trimble/TEKLA, IDEA Statica will present their link with Tekla Structural Designer, and the improved link with Tekla Structures for the first time.
09:00 - Registration
09:30 - Session 1: IDEA StatiCa new release 9.1 / Tekla Structural Designer link
12:00 - Session 2: IDEA StatiCa Concrete Detail / Testimonials from Mott MacDonald & ARUP
14:30 - Session 3: Case studies from other clients / Technical insight
16:00 - Session 4: Meet the developers! Have your saying, shape the future with us!
Lubomír Sabatka - IDEA StatiCa, CEO
Lubomir is one of the pioneers of using CAE methods in structural analysis worldwide. With his team, he has been developing tools for this industry for over 20 years – Esa Prima Win, SCIA Engineer etc. In 2009, he shifted his focus to design of structural members, use of cloud technology and BIM adoption. He aims to fill in missing pieces in the global workflow of structural engineers and fabricators.
David Sanderson – TRIMBLE, Product Development Manager / Engineering
David has spent the last 30 years creating and managing the development of market leading analysis & design software for the construction industry. Originally starting his development career with CSC, now Trimble, David has been an integral part of the evolution of software packages primarily for the design of steel buildings.
Gordon Clannachan – Senior Structural Engineer, ARUP
Gordon started his career at ARUP in 2011 as part of the Wind Engineering team in the Advanced Technology and Research group and has spent the last 2 years in Building Engineering London (BEL E) as a Structural and Wind Engineer, having been involved in the successful delivery of several high-rise residential and commercial developments, largely based in London, through various stages of the RIBA Plan of Work.
Matthew Pearce – Principal Structural Engineer, Mott MacDonald
Matthew started his career in 2007 at Mott MacDonald and has been involved in the design of many iconic structures globally. His current responsibilities include managing multi-disciplinary engineering teams, primarily in the sports building sector, as well as leading structural designs and BIM implementation for a variety of buildings projects. He is also responsible for implementing and developing BIM for structural design for Mott MacDonald’s UK building and infrastructure unit.
This workshop will be of interest to engineers wishing to accrue CPD points.
