This course will cover the most recent available guidance published by The Institution of Structural Engineers on temporary demountable structures (TDS).
By the end of the course, you should be able to:
- Identify the legislation and codes of practice related to the design of TDS in the UK
- Distinguish the key structural principles behind different types of TDS, e.g. stages, platforms, marquees and tensile structures, grandstands and ancillary performance related structures (external screens, PA supports, etc).
Abigail Matthews has been working as a structural engineer since 1991 and co-founded Momentum Consulting Engineers in 2005. She has been involved in the design and inspection of TDS for the events and entertainment industry for most of her career. Abigail represents the Institution of Civil Engineers and the Professional Lighting and Sound Association on the Advisory Group for Temporary Structures. She also represents the UK in the development of new European standards for temporary structures and demountable seating.
Anyone interested in or associated with events, or who must procure, use or inspect TDS.
Don't delay booking your place - if we have not received enough bookings to break even one month before the date of the course, we will have to cancel it.
